Young wrestlers from Weyburn competed at the 2013 SHSAA Provincial Wrestling Championships, held on March 8 and 9 at the University of Regina. The RHSAA (Regina District) acted as the host district for the championship.
Ashley Bradley from Weyburn Comprehensive School placed sixth in the Females under 56 kg category and Shelby Lounsbury placed seventh in the under 50 kg class.
Kalen Oliver from Weyburn Junior High placed eighth in the Males under 53 kg and WCS's Justin Chuckry placed sixth in the under 73 kg.
Taking first place in the under 59 kg was WCS's Kevin Franklin.
Next on the list for the SHSAA will be the qualifying tournaments in high school basketball which will decide the 48 teams that will be participating at HOOPLA 2013, which will take place from March 21 to 23 in Saskatoon.
