The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce will be holding a number of different sessions for members, including a policy roundtable, an information evening on communications, and a breakfast meeting with the mayor and reeve from the City and RM of Weyburn.
The first event is an evening with international master trainer and coach Harry Nichols, who has experience in the field of communications.
The event will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 2, at the Canalta Hotel meeting room from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Nichols will share insights on improving a person’s communication style by teaching how to express yourself with confidence, and how people process information.
Participants will also look at how to influence people in positive ways, and how to change your communication style to better get your point across.
The evening is sponsored by E. Bourassa and Sons, and is free of charge to all chamber members.
The policy roundtable, hosted by the Chamber’s Government Issues and Education committee, is to ask chamber members to share their thoughts on issues affecting their business.
The roundtable discussion is to help prepare for the provincial election in April, and the municipal election in October, with all-candidates forum held for both elections.
The input on issues will help the committee develop advocacy initiatives and policy recommendations. The roundtable is set for Thursday, Feb. 11 at the Ramada Hotel meeting room from 6:30 to 8 p.m. It is open to all chamber members, but is closed to members of the media and the government.
Lastly, the breakfast event with Mayor Debra Button and Reeve Carmen Sterling will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 24 at the Royal Canadian Legion, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.
The two leaders will share what is new at the city and RM, and will look ahead to the coming year for the municipalities.
