Comp business students win numerous awards

Several of the Weyburn Comprehensive School’s Entrepreneurship 30 students were honoured at the provincial Junior Achievement of Saskatchewan awards gala held in Regina on Thursday evening, with finalists or awards in nearly every category.

Several of the Weyburn Comprehensive School’s Entrepreneurship 30 students were honoured at the provincial Junior Achievement of Saskatchewan awards gala held in Regina on Thursday evening, with finalists or awards in nearly every category.
Two of the top three awards of the night were from the Weyburn Comp, including the Achiever of the Year, Cody Schlosser, and the Company of the Year, Lux Bath Products.
Schlosser will get an all-expense paid trip to the International Next Generation Forum to be held in London, Ont., on Aug. 20-25.
This award was presented to the outstanding achiever who displayed dedication and overwhelming commitment to the company program throughout the semester, with exceptional leadership and perseverance, and a willingness to help fellow achievers develop business skills.
In the Environmental Health and Safety Excellence category, the winner was Tatum Abel. This award honours the achiever who played a significant role in the development, implementation, monitoring and ongoing improvement of the company’s plan for a healthy and safe work environment.
For the Salesperson of the Year award, Weyburn had three finalists nominated, including Cody Schlosser, Emily Richards and Tyrell Mabee. For the Production Excellence Award, Aiden Barrett was a finalist.
For the Human Resource Management Award, Raegen Ribalkin was a finalist, and Jeena Johner was the award winner. The award is presented to the achiever who maintained accurate, orderly records and took pride in her position in a professional manner, with an exceptional ability to motivate and train staff, to facilitate teamwork and to ensure each team member played a meaningful role.
Braeya Wotherspoon was a finalist in the IT Excellence Award category, and Kaylee Bjarnason was a finalist for the Marketing Excellence Award. Emily Richards was a finalist in the Financial Management Award category, and Schlosser was a finalist for the Professional Leadership Award.
For President of the Year, Schlosser and Reece Skjonsby were both nominated, and the award was presented to Jordyn Thompson. This award went to the achiever who exhibited the qualities and abilities that make an exceptional leader, who as president led with competence and confidence, provided mentorship to team members, and was an outstanding ambassador for the company.
In the Achiever of the Year category, which Schlosser won, Thompson and Abel were also nominated.
For the Product Design Award, the Sweet Dreams company was a finalist, and they were also a finalist for the Most Improved Company Award.
For Company of the Year, won by Lux Bath Products, student companies Ace High and Cocoa Express were also finalists.
