Mankota student sweeps provincial rodeo titles

Kassidy Williamson of Mankota collected an impressive set of titles at the Provincial High School Rodeo Association finals in Swift Current on June 3-4. The student, who graduated this spring from Mankota School, won four provincial titles, placing first in breakaway roping, goat tying, pole bending as well as third in barrel racing and second in cutting. She was also selected all around cowgirl at the provincials. Currently, Williamson is off to Gillette, Wyoming, to compete in the National High School Finals Rodeo starting on July 18. 

There were several other Southline competitors in Swift Current to compete in the finals. Chance Sjogren from Big Beaver placed first in saddle bronc. Three competitors from the south area placed in the top eight in bull riding: Chanse Switzer of Hazemore was in second, Judd Colliness from Kincaid was in fifth place, and Logan Peterson of Glentworth was in seventh spot. In team roping Colt Kornfeld of Val Marie teamed up with Tee McLeod of Waldeck to place second, Chanse Switzer of Hazemore and Tanner Froshaug of Minton were in fifth place, and Riley McClintock of Wood Mountain and Dylan Larson of Val Marie placed seventh. In tie down roping Colt Kornfeld of Val Marie placed second, Chanse Switzer of Hazenmore placed sixth, and Dylan Larson of Val Marie placed eighth. In bareback riding Liam Marshall of Coronach placed first. Brooke Lee of Bengough placed fifth in pole bending. Karli Cowie of Mankota placed fourth in barrel racing.
