I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about the matter of individualism. Two things triggered this introspection, both of which were totally unexpected a few days ago.

A familiar adage cautions us to never meet our heroes lest we discover they have feet of clay. The danger is that we find out just how ordinary and fallible they might be.
