MacKenzie Valentine is the program co-ordinator for Cornerstone Family and Youth Centre in Carlyle. Taking place at the library is a “drop in and play” program. This program provides a story, a snack, and a craft for children under five years of age.

The Carievale 4-H Beef Club held their regular monthly meeting on Oct. 7 at the Carievale Golden Years Centre with 16 members present. Kamryn Gilliland called the meeting to order and the 4-H Pledge was recited.

A fire drill was held at Arcola School on Tuesday, Oct. 8 with Kisbey Fire Department (KFD) in attendance. Students exited the school promptly when the alarm sounded. It occurred just after 1 p.m.

Southeast Regional Library is going through several changes. “It’s not the library you remember” is their tagline. The focus is to create accessible space in communities, with books being only one of the options.

Nastiness will make it tough to govern

This federal campaign has been far too ugly. It would be unfair to blame any one particular party, but it’s never the best strategy for anyone in the long run. The problem in this campaign is that all parties seem to be held captive by their dogma.

Ron Paul came to Carlyle in 1983. He operated Carlyle Building Supplies until 2006. He sold the business in 2006. Ron involved himself in his community in many facets.
