Public safety reminder: stay out of vacant or boarded-up buildings
The Estevan Police Service says it continues to receive reports of individuals entering vacant buildings that have been deemed unsafe or abandoned. These structures are often boarded up with windows and have doors secured to protect public safety.
"We remind the public that entering these buildings is considered trespassing and poses serious risks, not only to those unlawfully inside, but also to the safety of responding officers who may be required to search the premises," the EPS said in a news release.
These buildings can be structurally unstable and may contain hazardous materials or unsafe conditions. The EPS urges everyone to avoid entering or approaching these sites and to report any suspicious activity around vacant properties.
"Your cooperation helps keep our community safer for everyone," the EPS said.
