By the time you have this paper in your hands, I’ll be back from a holiday through much of western Canada. It’s amazing how much ground you can cover in just a few days.

We missed putting in a June column because the Mercury did an article on us instead, so we didn’t want to overtake the paper with too much about ourselves. I will try and update our June and July information in this column.

Bright sunflower fields west of Estevan have been making hundreds of people driving by smile, stop, take pictures and enjoy one of the most happy-looking plants. But sunflowers are not just beautiful to look at.

The carbon capture and storage facility at SaskPower’s Boundary Dam Power Station had its best month of the year in July. The facility captured 75,503 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) last month.

There are four new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on August 19, bringing the total to 1,586 total cases. Two new cases are in the southwest and two more are in the northwest region. Of the 1,586 reported cases, 154, or about 9.

The Amber Alert that was issued for a missing Saskatchewan child has been lifted. The alert was issued at 8:30 a.m. by the Saskatoon Police Service for four-year-old Journey Kay. She was last seen at approximately 2 a.m. on Aug.

The Carlyle Cardinals captured the Saskota Baseball League championship on their home field in Lions Park on Tuesday night, winning the best-of-three league final series in two straight games over the Estevan Wolves.

A farm family from southeast Saskatchewan has turned to a new plant, and is one of the first in the province to do so.

The Estevan Chamber of Commerce hosted its ninth annual Get out on the Green golf event at the Estevan Woodlawn Golf Course on Aug. 13.
