There are 244 new cases of COVID-19 and 282 recoveries to report in Saskatchewan on Jan. 28, bringing the provincial total to date to 23,038 cases. Eleven Saskatchewan residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority has announced the temporary disruption to emergency and acute care services at the Arcola Health Centre and emergency services at Radville Marian Health Centre have been extended until further notice.

The Estevan Police Service has had several calls to start the week. Police attended a traffic collision in the 100-block of Fourth Street on Jan. 25. One vehicle required towing from the scene.

The Estevan RCMP is investigating an attempted break-and-enter earlier this week. The incident occurred in the early morning hours of Jan. 26 at the RM of Cymri shop in Midale.

The Big Six Hockey League has cancelled the rest of the 2020-21 season. President Rae Wright confirmed the moved in an interview with the Mercury Wednesday morning, after he spoke with representatives of all nine teams.
