Midale’s Katie Emde has become well-known this year for her fundraising efforts for autism. She was the top fundraiser in Canada for the Inside-Out for Autism initiative in April, which supported Saskatchewan Families for Effective Autism Treatment.

Santa visited with children during the annual Breakfast with Santa held by the Assiniboia Kinette Club on December 2. Residents can view and download photos taken with Santa from the Kinette’s website at www.assiniboiakinettes.com.

A full house was once again on hand at the Prince of Wales Saturday, December 2, 2017 for the 19th Annual Assiniboia Festival of Trees. The wonderful meal was provided by Rita Walter and the Knights of Columbus worked the bar.

It’s not surprising that I’ve been humming “ Away in a Manger ” these days (after all, it is the Christmas season) but actually I’ve found myself thinking more about wood. Neither humorous nor particularly profound, here are my musings.

Children who attend the Storytime program at the Assiniboia and District Public Library helped to decorate the Christmas tree at the library on November 29.

Margaret Messer purchased a booth at the No. 2901 Estevan Army Cadets’ Craft Show on Dec. 2 at the Royal Canadian Legion’s Estevan branch, in order to sell some of her homemade items, such as moccasins. The event was anticipated to be uneventful.

Estevan – There was so much interest in MNP’s presentations on federal tax changes and provincial sales tax changes that they were bringing in extra tables and chairs to squeeze more people in at the Estevan Legion Hall on Nov. 8.
