Though a concept foreign to prairie dwellers, I’m planning to plant vegetables this fall for harvest in late winter or early spring.

Limerick was a busy place on August 19 hosting two events and a number of garage sales. The annual Limerick Harvest Market at the Community Hall was a huge success again this year.

I was inspired at a recent Sunday service. The Spirit led me to glimpse Christ’s sacrifice for us and for all time. The realization of that image left me in tears. In Gethsemane Jesus contemplated his sacrifice of Good Friday.

Assiniboia Communities in Bloom held a Blooming Lunch fundraiser in Central Park in Assiniboia on August 23. Southland Co-op was the food sponsor for the event.

Larry Preddy has a keen interest in the appearance and maintenance of the trails at Woodlawn Regional Park.

The Estevan Lions Club had plenty of reasons to celebrate at a meeting on Aug. 29. First of all, it was the 60th anniversary of when the club was chartered. The club was also celebrating the 100th year of Lions International.

Dozens of varieties of mouth-watering apple pies attracted huge crowds to Mossbank and District Museum’s annual Apple Pie Day at the Mossbank community hall on August 23.

A&W locations across Canada participated in its annual campaign Burgers to Beat MS on August 24. Assiniboia’s A&W location also took part in the Multiple Sclerosis fundraiser for the first time, said Rod Rodil, A&W Assiniboia manager.

Centennial Park was full of tiny smiling faces on August 21 for Assiniboia’s annual Kids’ Day in the Park. The event was organized by the Recreation Department.

Fresh Air Fitness has been a popular attraction since it opened earlier this summer, and gave people an opportunity to exercise outdoors in Woodlawn Regional Park.
