The Estevan Salvation Army is continuing with its Back to School Backpack campaign. The ministry had offered the campaign in recent years in conjunction with the Estevan Staples outlet.

Gail Skikevitch has fond memories of her time living in Hirsch as a child. So she has decided to create a history book on the hamlet and the surrounding area. But to complete the book, she needs help from people who lived in the area.

Back in 1967 the bustling town of Ormiston really got involved in celebrating Canada’s Centennial. At the time, four 11-year old friends decided to walk from Ormiston to Moose Jaw to commemorate the 100th anniversary.

They have contributed to the community through culture, sports, healthcare, education, social work and the business world, as well as through the countless hours they have dedicated to volunteering.
