The Assiniboia and District Museum celebrated Canada 150 with a Pioneer Supper on May 12. The museum chose a pioneer theme and recreated this bygone era with food, entertainment, decorations and the volunteer organizers wearing period clothing.

The Estevan Art Gallery and Museum’s (EAGM) legacy project for Canada’s 150th birthday celebrations features the talents of nearly 400 local residents.

Maidstone – Paul Lawrence has been with Baytex Energy Corp.’s Maidstone area Soda Lake operations since the beginning, when the company purchased the area from Dorset in 1997. Lawrence, 55, is originally from Red Water, Alta.

Members and guests of the Assiniboia and District Pro-Life group gathered for its banquet and program to share a message of hope and support at St. George’s parish hall in Assiniboia on April 30.

When Thomas Murray decided to enter his first Spartan race back in 2014, he did it in an effort to improve his conditioning. He said he was at 250 pounds at the time. By the time his training ended and the race began, he was down to 180 pounds.

Roger Maley has a keen interest in history. Among his possessions at his Estevan home is a 1917 crank phone that will be 100 years old this year.
