The Tornado Hunter Greg Johnson shared his tornado hunting experiences with Rockglen students on March 30. Johnson was invited to speak at the Rockglen School by the Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD) committee.

In speaking of the regular downpours of rain we receive out here, I’ve not mentioned the howling winds and while it’s lovely living close to the ocean, we cannot escape feeling the full force of those blasts. So much like life itself.

Assiniboia’s Canada150 planning committee has confirmed a number of events for the July 1 Canada Day celebrations which will have a Canada 150 theme. The Town of Assiniboia begins Canada Day events with a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

The battle of Vimy Ridge has been heralded as Canada’s unofficial date of birth as a nation.

For us Wet Coast dwellers (no, that’s not a spelling error), today was a day to celebrate.

As a woman boards the bus with her baby the driver says, "That's the ugliest baby I've ever seen." She slams her fare into the box and takes her seat. A man asks her asks her what’s wrong. "The driver insulted me," she fumed.

Purple Day presentations took place in Assiniboia at the Assiniboia Bakery and the 7th Avenue School on March 24. Purple Day is an international grassroots effort dedicated to increasing awareness about epilepsy worldwide.

Minnie Pearl’s husband supposedly said she looked like a breath of spring. Minnie replied, “He probably meant I look like the end of a long, cold winter.” Lent is a time for a refreshing look at our lives.

The two local women who are looking to bring Fresh Air Fitness to the Woodlawn Regional Park are excited their dream is inching closer towards materializing.
