A list of talented individuals and groups have applied to provide entertainment at this year’s Communithon fundraiser, and an audition concert will be held on Sunday, Sept. 15, starting at 2 p.m., at the T.C. Douglas Centre.

The Crocus 80 Theatre company will be doing a casting call on Saturday, Aug. 31, for a Christmas production to be done in honour of past longtime member Neal Keefe.

After hearing his grandfather playing the box-shaped, bellowed instrument, Scott Heatcoat fell in love with the accordion at five years of age. Scott often travelled to polka fests with his grandfather, Edgar Heatcoat.

Woodlawn Regional Park is bringing a popular Saskatchewan touring group back to the Estevan area next week. Saskatchewan Express will bring its Reel Music tour to the stage at the park’s Boundary Dam beach site on Aug. 29, starting at 7 p.m.

Close to 120 kids ages three and up attended the Estevan Trinity Lutheran Church VBS this week. The bible school wrapped up on Friday with a performance in front of dozens of excited parents.

This summer was the busiest as far as Karly Garnier, the Estevan Art Gallery and Museum’s (EAGM) education, outreach and programming co-ordinator, can remember in her 10 years with the gallery.

For the first time, the Estevan Art Gallery and Museum’s (EAGM) summer camps took place in both July and August. Usually, camp activities run in July, leaving the end of the summer open, but this time the EAGM decided to try something different.

Even the cancellation of its final event of the year couldn’t dampen the spirits of the Souris Valley Theatre for its 30th anniversary season. The theatre was scheduled to host Kipling native Alex Runions for a concert on Saturday night.
