The flooding event at the end of June 2014 caused much damage to property in and around Redvers. One of the buildings whose future is currently unknown includes the Redvers Arts Centre, which had over 16 inches of water in the basement.

Saskatchewan country artist Chris Henderson says 2015 “will be a big year” for him, personally and professionally. “I'll be getting married to my fiancee (teacher Janelle Howlett), in September,” says Henderson.

There is growing interest in the upcoming casting calls for “Rocky Horror Show” for Crocus 80 Theatre. Casting calls will be held at the Tommy Douglas Performing Arts Centre on Monday, Jan. 5 and Thursday, Jan. 8, both at 7 p.m.

The White Bear Education Complex hosted their annual Christmas Concert on Thursday, Dec. 18. The youth had put a lot of work into preparing for the event, while the community was very receptive as the gym was filled with friends and family.

This year, instead of a Christmas concert, Manor School decided to host something for everyone to partake in if interested with a school talent show held on Monday, Dec. 22. The talent show included performances by students and teachers.

Christmas concerts are typically hosted by schools but that wasn’t always the case. Oftentimes a community would come together to put on a performance for everyone to partake in and enjoy.

The Weyburn Public Library will be active again in January, once their Christmas holidays are over. When the library re-opens on Friday, Jan. 5, they will immediately start up their “Waking the Stacks” program.

Arcola School hosted their annual Christmas Concert on Monday, Dec. 15, at both 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., both to a packed gymnasium.

The Weyburn Comp’s Concert Band plays the first of a number of holiday tunes, “Ding Dong Merrily On High”, at the Winter Concert held Dec. 16 at the Cugnet Centre, as part of a combined Comp and Weyburn Junior High concert.

Grade 2 and 4 students at Souris School practice for their Christmas concert on Dec. 12, which was held for their family members on Dec. 15 and 16.
