The City of Estevan gave its residents, and a few who came into the community, a Canada Day show to remember last week.

Canada Day celebrations across the country had a different look this year, but many communities in the southeast and throughout Canada were still able to have something to mark this country’s 153rd birthday.

The long-hoped-for news about museums reopening finally came in, and the Estevan Art Gallery and Museum (EAGM) is now getting ready to welcome visitors once again.

The Lakota Art Studio and Gallery at 1020 Centre Street in Rockglen showcased the paintings, prints, cards, books and jewellery of Lakota artist, Kim Soo Goodtrack, along with several Indigenous and Saskatchewan-based artists.

James Brady, a Metis leader and prospector from Lake Vincent Alberta, vanished in the Lower Foster Lake area nearly 190 kilometres north of La Ronge Saskatchewan on June 7, 1967.

The Hearts and Hands Quilt Guild of Estevan found a way to a quilt show on Saturday. More than 100 quilts were on display along Heritage Drive for what they called a Stroll Along Quilt Show.

The Estevan and District Music Festival has announced it is providing bursaries to Grade 12s who entered the festival this year.

Music lovers enjoyed a Saskatchewan first in Lampman on June 13. A drive-in concert was held at the town’s campground, featuring Saskatchewan country music singer Justin LaBrash and his band True North.

Both the Oxbow Chase the Ace weekly pot and the final jackpot were won by Oxbow residents. The final Oxbow and District Recreation Board’s game draw was made on June 17.
