ECS student discount cards are now for sale

The Estevan Comprehensive School (ECS) is once again selling student discount cards as a fundraiser for future school activities.

The Estevan Comprehensive School (ECS) is once again selling student discount cards as a fundraiser for future school activities.

Principal Brian Wright said the cards are available online this year through Momentum Fundraising, the company the school is working with. The cards are $20 each, plus a service fee, and the cards can be purchased through the Momentum Fundraising website.

The company will then take care of mailing the cards out.

“Anybody that buys a card through them will get it in the mail right away,” said Wright.

Like previous years, many of the participating businesses are restaurants, but they also have clothing retailers, grocers, auto repair and beauty salons.

“Our business community is very supportive in taking part with the coupons and the cards, and our general public is always very supportive in buying the cards,” said Wright. “I know lots of people are looking forward to buying them, because they always do, and we appreciate everybody’s support.

The campaign just started and Wright said the school is hopeful the public will get behind them. It will be different this year because students won’t be able to go door to door.

Wright said the school hopes the restrictions put in place by the provincial government will be eased or even lifted during the 2020-21 school year, and so the school will be able to have special events that benefit from the card sales.

“That is where the money that is raised on the cards goes to, is supporting our SRC, and supplying things like uniforms and dances and decorations and the things that we need to make this place feel alive,” said Wright.

The cards will be printed on demand, so if the school starts to run out, the company will supply more. Approximately 1,000-2,000 cards are sold each year.

ECS is thankful for the support it receives from the community annually to help the school. Being able to have the card, and have it out there in the public, is a great thing for the school, he said.
