It’s been a blustery weekend in the Energy City.

Windy conditions have whipped through Estevan on Saturday and Sunday. Environment Canada issued a wind warning for Estevan on Saturday morning just after 8 a.m., thanks to winds that were forecasted to exceed 90 kilometres per hour.

The warning was lifted at 4:27 a.m. Sunday, but strong winds are expected to continue throughout the day, and only ease up Sunday evening.

Blustery conditions are expected to resume Monday.

Powerful winds in Estevan broke branches and damaged trees, knocked over a sign at a local vehicle dealership and cause damage to the roof at Living Hope Community Church and at local residences. In the case of Living Hope, the tin roof over their auditorium was peeled away in the wind.

SaskPower did not report any prolonged power outages for the Estevan area.

According to Environment Canada, the Estevan area received 14.9 millimetres of rain Saturday, or about three-fifths of an inch. A severe thunderstorm watch was issued early Saturday. Estevan did receive some thundershowers, but the watch was never upgraded to a warning.
