Two more cases of COVID-19 in the southeast

There are two more new cases of COVID-19 in the southeast region, according to the daily information provided by the Ministry of Health on Sunday. One of the new cases is in southeast Zone 4, which includes Estevan.

There are two more new cases of COVID-19 in the southeast region, according to the daily information provided by the Ministry of Health on Sunday.

One of the new cases is in southeast Zone 4, which includes Estevan. The zone spans from Torquay to the Manitoba border along Highway 18, from Stoughton to the Manitoba border along Highway 13. This zone’s southern boundary is the Canada-U.S. border, and Zone 4’s territory moves to north of Highway 13.

The other new case for the southeast is in Zone 2, which is north of Zone 4.

No further details on the two new cases were released by the Ministry of Heatlh.

There are also individual cases in the Saskatoon, Regina and central east zones.

Saskatchewan has had 1,959 reported cases of COVID-19. A total of 153, or 7.8 per cent, are considered active. 

The number of recoveries remains at 1,782, or about 91 per cent of those diagnosed.

One person is in hospital in intensive care in Regina.

There have been 452 cases from the south area (225 southwest, 204 south central and 23 southeast). Five cases in the southeast are considered active; three of those cases are in Zone 4.

As for the rest of the province, 403 cases are from the Saskatoon area, 359 cases are from the far north area (350 far northwest, nine far northeast), 281 cases are from the north area (132 northwest, 80 north central, 69 northeast), 273 cases are from the central area (176 central west, 97 central east) and 191 cases are from the Regina area.

Of the 1,959 cases in the province to date, 296 cases are travellers, 965 are community contacts (including mass gatherings), 567 have no known exposures and 131 are under investigation by local public health.

Seventy-four cases are healthcare workers; however, the source of the infections may not be related to healthcare in all instances.

A total of 340 cases involve people 19 years of age and under, 645 cases are in the 20-39 age range, 600 are in the 40-59 age range, 310 are in the 60-79 age range and 64 are in the 80-plus range.

Fifty-one per cent of the cases are females and 49 per cent are males.

Twenty-four deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported to date.

To date, 199,524 COVID-19 tests have been performed in Saskatchewan.  As of October 2, 2020 when other provincial and national numbers are available from Public Health Agency of Canada, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 139,886 people tested per million population.  The national rate was 201,217 people tested per million population.

A total of 1,419 COVID-19 tests were performed in Saskatchewan on Saturday.
