Grade 6 students from CES toured the high school on Friday, June 1. They took a tour, watched a slide show, and participated in a "lock and chanting" challenge. It was a lot of fun and a great way for the younger students to find out about next year.

According to a recent study, conducted by Harris/Decima for CIBC, debt is affecting many people. The study found that, combined, 77 percent of Manitoba and Saskatchewan residents hold some form of debt.

A second area code will soon be necessary in Saskatchewan due to the increase in competitive activity amongst service providers and because of the growth of wireless services. All of this has depleted the pool of available 306 area code numbers.

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of May 27 to June 3: During the reporting period, police responded to 145 calls for service. *On June 3, police received a complaint of mischief done to a property.

The Carlyle Detachment of the RCMP responded to a total of 55 calls during the week of May 25 to May 31. A report of a single vehicle MVC (Motor Vehicle Collision) began the calls for the 25th.

Weyburn taxpayers will not be dreading a tax increase, thanks to a unanimous vote at a City Council meeting on May 28. Council approved a zero per cent change in millrates for the coming year.

The City of Estevan has received some positive news with regards to its Provincial Disaster Assistance Program claim.
