The Estevan Bruins are officially heading to the playoffs, and they are still looking to continue their late-season push up the standings.

The Estevan Apex midget AA Bruins have advanced to the South Division semifinal in the Saskatchewan Minor AA Hockey League’s playoffs. Estevan defeated the Regina Rangers 5-0 Feb.

Two members of the Estevan Bruins are finalists for this year’s Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) awards.

Members of the Estevan Sharks cadet boys and girls teams hit the water in Regina on Sunday for a regular season tournament.

Hodgeville routed Coronach 6-3, completing the series on Friday, February 21. On the same night, the Senior Rebels downed the Hornets 5-2 in the Assiniboia Civic Centre Arena to clinch their spot in the Notekeu League’s finals for the 2019-20 season.

Two former Roughriders, Wes Cates and Scott Schultz, will appear at the Sports Banquet in Lafleche on March 6. The Lafleche and District Lions Club are holding this event to raise funds towards improving and upgrading the Wood River Memorial Hall.

As the longest-serving billet parent with the Estevan Bruins organization, Melodye Pierson has had a big impact on a lot of young players who have come here to play hockey. She started billeting in 1980 with her late husband Bert.
