Local youths had a chance to learn professional basics of curling on Sunday. Andrea McEwen, who is a high-performance coach and instructor, had 12 students participating in the Estevan Viterra Youth Clinic at the Power Dodge Curling Centre.

Three Estevan teams won titles at district school volleyball championships on Nov. 12. The Estevan Comprehensive School intermediate boys team won the title on their home court.

The Estevan Bruins opened a four games in five nights road trip Tuesday night with a 4-1 victory over the Kindersley Klippers. The game was scoreless after the first period, but then the Bruins scored three times in a 2:08 span of the second.

The Estevan Apex midget AA Bruins quest for a perfect season came to an end on the weekend, but they still have an unbeaten record at 14-0-1.

The Big Six Hockey League had a busy weekend, with three games each on Friday and Saturday night.

The Estevan Senchuk atom Bearcats female hockey team won the Schwan Cadillac Cup in Mandan, N.D., on the weekend. The Senchuk Bearcats went 4-0 during the weekend, They opened the tournament with a 6-0 shutout victory over Dickenson.

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings had two home games this weekend and were desperatly needing a win as they were on a three-game losing streak. Fortunately they earned not one, but two wins this weekend.

The Junior B Rebels matched-up against Carrot River Outback Thunder on November 15 and were destroyed with a final result of 7-1 for the visiting team.

The Senior Rebels suffered their first loss of the season to the hands of their arch rivals, the Hodgeville Huskies, by a score of 5-2 on November 16 at the Assiniboia Civic Centre Arena.
