The Rae Ann Williamson rink has punched their ticket for the Viterra Scotties Tournament of Hearts women’s curling provincials later this month in Melville.

With the festive season over, the Notekeu schedule kicked into high gear on January 3 and 4. Hodgeville won a pair, Coronach took 7-2 and the Senior Rebels earned 4-1.

The Estevan Novice Canucks were the class of the Weyburn Novice Super Tournament on the weekend. Estevan went 4-0 in the tournament, and outscored their opponents 42-8.

Players from the Estevan Sharks Water Polo Club played their first games of the new year this weekend in Regina.

A team with southeast Saskatchewan curlers has advanced to the Viterra Scotties Tournament of Hearts women’s curling provincials.

The Estevan Bruins have won three straight games for the first time this season, and have moved into a playoff spot in the SJHL standings.

Eight of the top women’s teams in Saskatchewan are at the Power Dodge Curling Centre in Estevan this weekend for the 2020 Last Chance Women’s Bonspiel. Games started on Friday afternoon and will wrap up Sunday.

Many of Saskatchewan’s top curlers will be coming to Estevan in 2021. The Viterra Scotties Tournament of Hearts provincial women’s curling championship and the SaskTel Tankard men’s provincial curling championship will be held at Affinity Place.

The attention of local sports fans once again shifted to the indoors, and to ice and courts, in the fall, but there was plenty of activity on all sporting fronts in the final four months of the year.
