The Estevan Comprehensive School Elecs senior boys and girls basketball teams went into the Christmas break on a high note. The senior boys team was the class of a tournament in Brandon, Man., on the weekend.

The Estevan Bruins Alumni Association has shown support for the Bruin hockey club. The alumni made a donation of $10,000 to the hockey club on Thursday. The money will be used to cover the cost all of the seating in the players’ lounge area.

Friday, the 13th was a busy night at the Carlyle Sports Arena.

Local youth were able to learn curling tips from Team Saskatchewan, who represented the province at last year’s Brier at a curling clinic on Saturday afternoon, and they also had the chance to ask them questions about their experiences.

The Estevan Apex midget AA Bruins kept rolling with a pair of wins in league play. The Bruins opened the weekend with an 8-2 victory over the Notre Dame Argos on Dec. 14.

Chase Gedak is the latest Estevan golfer to commit to play the game at the U.S. collegiate level. Gedak, a Grade 12 student at the Estevan Comprehensive School, announced Dec.
