The Power Dodge Curling Club has had a head start on what will be a very busy season.

Lampman’s Edwin Hookenson, who is in his senior year with the Minnesota State Mavericks, has been named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association’s Defenseman of the Week for the past week.

Cody Fitzpatrick is the son of Tyler and Amanda Fitzpatrick of Glen Ewen, SK. Cody, who is 16 years of age and in grade 10, is grabbing the bull by the horns.

The Estevan Apex midget AA Bruins continued their early season success by winning three times in league play over a five-day span. The Bruins defeated the Lumsden-Bethune Lions 7-3 on Oct. 19 and the Regina Vics 5-1 the following day.

The Co-op Challenge series trophy is once again the property of the Weyburn Comprehensive School Eagles. The Eagles defeated the Estevan Comprehensive School (ECS) Elecs in both the senior boys and girls volleyball games on Oct.

The Estevan Comprehensive School (ECS) Elecs football team wrapped up the 2019 regular season with a 55-26 loss to the Swift Current Colts Friday in Swift Current. Coach Mark Schott said the Elecs had a tough start, and they never recovered.

Some of the top curling teams in the province were in Estevan on the weekend for a Saskatchewan Curling Tour event. Eight teams were entered in the event, with a spot in the SaskTel Tankard provincial championship waiting for the winner.

It was a tough weekend for the Estevan Bruins, as they dropped a pair of games on home ice. The Bruins lost 5-4 to the Melfort Mustangs on Friday night and 5-1 to the Kindersley Klippers on Saturday.

The Estevan U12 Century 21 Chargers football team took the top team in their age group to the limit in the Moose Jaw Minor Football League playoffs. The Moose Jaw Spartans edged the Chargers 45-44 Friday night in Moose Jaw in a semifinal game.
