The strength, endurance and determination of competitors were put to the test during the inaugural Force Fitness Challenge that was held Saturday at Fresh Air Fitness’ facility near Estevan.

It’s become a familiar sight in Saskatchewan summer speed swimming: the Estevan Golden Eels swim club hoisting the provincial championship banner and trophy. And it’s not getting old for the team’s members, coaches and parents.

The Estevan TS&M under-13 Brewers went 3-1 at the provincial AA Tier 1 tournament in Unity, and reached the semifinal round. The Brewers opened the tournament by going 3-0 in the round robin.

For the first time in their history, the Carnduff Astros have won the Saskota Baseball League title. The Astros defeated the Arcola Threshers 15-4 in Sunday’s final in Kenosee Lake to win the league’s Harbourne Memorial Trophy.

The Estevan Golden Eels swim club remains the class of the summer speed swimming programs in the province. The Eels captured the provincial championship for the fifth consecutive year on the weekend.

Tyren Dorrance’s success on the field has led to him earning a couple of prestigious honours in the Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League.

Local residents tested their fitness levels and their endurance during the Force Fitness Challenge at the Fresh Air Fitness site on Saturday. The competition was held as part of the activities for the Rafferty Rumble in Estevan.

Two members of the Western Hockey League champion Prince Albert Raiders made a triumphant return to Estevan on Saturday. Defenceman Brayden Pachal, who was the team’s captain, and forward Cole Fonstad, are both originally from Estevan.

The TS&M Woodlawn Golf Course held free clinics on Saturday as part of the Rafferty Rumble activities in Estevan.

The South Corner Racing Circuit made its first of two stops at the Trackside Motocross Association’s facility southeast of Estevan on Saturday. Dozens of riders entered in the different classes.
