Six local lacrosse players were part of a peewee team that recently won a provincial league championship. Porter Crossman, Noah Magnien, Kalib Roy, Carson Seemann, MacKenzie Schoenthal and Hunter Wagstaff were members of the South Sask.

Two members of the Western Hockey League (WHL) champion Prince Albert Raiders are scheduled to be in Estevan this weekend, and they’ll have a couple of special guests with them.

Local athlete Logan King had an excellent showing at the 2019 Alberta Trapshooting Championships at the Calgary Firearms Centre from July 18-21. Sixty-two shooters competed in the doubles event.

The Weyburn Beavers were in Moose Jaw Tuesday night facing the Miller Express and things did not go according to plan.

Barrel racers converged on Estevan for the weekend for the 13th annual Fountain Tire Barrel Extravaganza at the Estevan Exhibition grounds. The entrants competed in the open, Saskatchewan bred, over-50 select, youth and peewee divisions.

The Estevan TS&M U13 AAA Brewers were second in league playoffs over the weekend. The Brewers opened the tournament by going 3-0 in the round robin. They defeated the Regina Pacers 12-5, the Regina Buffalos 13-5 and the Swift Current 57s 12-6.

The Estevan Golden Eels swim club continued their strong performances leading up to provincials by taking top spot at the south final in Assiniboia on Saturday. Estevan finished first at the meet with 684 points.

The second night of the Canadian Dirt Wars doubleheader at the Estevan Motor Speedway on Sunday produced an exciting night of racing at the track. A total of 95 cars were entered on Sunday night, and the weather conditions were ideal for racing.
