The Estevan CanElson Drilling Bruins are still looking for their second win of the season after dropping a pair of one-goal games last week.

The wait was long and arduous, but good things finally came to the Estevan Comprehensive School football team on Saturday. The Elecs defeated the Vanier Vikings 14-7 in Moose Jaw for their first win since Oct. 18, 2011.

After spending two seasons playing in his hometown, Taylor Reich's days with the Estevan Bruins are over. The Bruins shipped the 20-year-old left winger to the Battlefords North Stars on Monday for future considerations.

With another broken tackle or two, the Estevan Sherritt Coal Miners may have had a better fate.

They ran into a virtually unstoppable team in the end, but the Estevan Comprehensive Schools senior girls volleyball team had a good run at their home tournament on the weekend.

Kassidy Sjostrand chases her opponent on the Notre Dame Hounds team to gain control of the puck. The Gold Wings played the Hounds in their last exhibition game of the season on Sept. 24 and lost, 3-2.

The Weyburn Golf Club held their club championship on Saturday, September 21. In the Junior division, results were Jackson Chartrand in first place with a score of 101 and Nolan Ling in second with 109.

Southeast Regional College's 15th annual Swing for Scholarships golf tournament, held on September 13th at the Weyburn Golf Club, surpassed its goal by raising over $28,000.

The Weyburn Leisure Centre indoor pool was reopened September 23 after being closed for a week for repairs. Weyburn Leisure Centre Indoor Pool closed due to a cracked underwater light in the deep end of the pool.

It's not all about the flying punches, bone crunching kicks and stunning submissions, it's about community. Weyburn gets set to host the second Prestige Fight Club's MMA event "Fall Out" Saturday, September 28 with 13 fights on the card.
