The Weyburn roller derby team is gearing up for their final match of the year in North Battleford on Saturday, Oct. 12.

It was their first big test and the CanElson Drilling Estevan Bruins passed it.

It didn't take long for the Estevan bid committee to get the good news. On Tuesday morning, the group of people looking to bring the 2016 Saskatchewan Summer Games here found out the city is one of four finalists for the event.

The Estevan Bruins' forward corps got a big addition on Friday with the news that 18-year-old forward Cory Millette has been re-assigned by the WHL's Red Deer Rebels.

Two of three Weyburn MMA fighters walked away winners from the octagon Saturday, September 28 at Prestige Fight Club of Regina's MMA Fall Out event. Clayton Schira cornered his opponent Ethan Ornatowski for a knock out win in the first round.

The Weyburn Red Wings are 1-3 going into the month of October losing two tough games on the road this past weekend. The Red Wings fell 4-1 against Nipawin Friday, September 27 with their only goal coming in the third period.
