The Weyburn Beavers started their 2012 baseball season with games against Melville and Regina, both played on the road. "From the looks of the team, I think we have a pretty good team," said Angelo Nicolosi, the Beavers head coach.

Although they managed to win only one of their three home games last week, that win came with a dramatic finish for the Southeast Legacy Twins.

They kept it respectable, but in the end the Estevan Tarpon Energy Big Dogs failed to beat either of the top teams they hosted in Prairie Gold Lacrosse League action on the weekend.

Redemption for Baldwin, Jimenez; Gaudry wins again

Canadian PGA Tour member and Weyburn native, Graham DeLaet, will be in Saskatoon on Tuesday, June 5 to help launch the 2012 Golf Day in Saskatchewan. DeLaet is currently 93rd on the PGA Tour Money List.

The under-10 Mini Red Devils girls soccer team was in Swift Current last weekend to participate in the Southwest Soccerfest tournament. The girls first faced Swift Current White and won 3-0. They then faced the Moose Jaw Storm winning 5-0.

The Weyburn Mini Marathon will be taking place on Saturday, June 2, beginning at Assiniboia Park Elementary School. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. Approximately 200 participants are registered to run the 4th Annual WEMM.

Buck-A-Rama, the annual event that sees cowboys take to three main events will be held June 13 and 14 beginning at 6 p.m. both days.

On May 26 the Southeast Corner Racing Circuit (SCRC) held their first race of the season in Carlyle at the Bowan Rekken BKR Moto-X Track. A late start to the day came because of the overcast weather that was threatening to pour down.

Dayton Picard and Sean Whelan are the latest Bruins prospects to sign with the team. Both are '94-borns from the Moose Jaw Generals. Picard, a native of Stoughton, is a skilled centre who got into three games with the Bruins last year.
