The Estevan Bruins and Yorkton Terriers both found out on Saturday that 24 hours can make a big difference.

The Editor: This letter is in response to the article in the Feb. 27 paper about our streets and potholes; especially to city council and Jim Puffalt, city manager. The roads that we have to drive on are ridiculous.

The Editor: I am sending this letter to our Premier Brad Wall, MLA Doreen Eagles, CTV News, The Leader-Post , The Estevan Mercury and of course my mom (who always knows best) so that maybe someone can help me.

The Editor: I am a member of the Time to Twin committee that is trying to get Highways 6 (south) and 39 from Regina to North Portal twinned.

The statement can safely and truthfully made: Weyburn needs a new acute-care hospital, and needs to deal with their current shortage of doctors, both in the city and in the surrounding areas.

So then I get home and find out my favourite baseball team, the Cardinals, are apparently in need of a new starting pitcher.

Saskatchewan's NDP have spoken and they have selected Cam Broten as the man to lead them out of the political wilderness. After a months long race, Broten barely edged out Saskatoon doctor Ryan Meili for the party's leadership.

March 8 is International Women's Day. It turns out the Socialist Party of America was the first to celebrate a national Women's Day in February of 1909. The next year saw an International Women's Conference held in Copenhagen, Denmark.

J.L. Granatstein may be a distinguished research fellow of the Canadian Defence and Foreign Affairs Institute, but in his March 4 opinion piece in the National Post, he is just plain wrong.
