The Weyburn Golf Club held their annual Crocus Men’s Open golf tournament on August 27 and 28 with 64 men competing.

An evening of celebration will showcase expression in colour, created during participants at the Weyburn Wor-Kin Shop during “Colour Sense”.

Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) have reached an agreement in principle, averting a work disruption that CUPW had twice postponed since the two sides entered into negotiations with a mediator last Friday.

Marjorie Lorraine Pokletar, late of Weyburn, passed away August 21, 2016, at the age of 78 years. She was predeceased by her parents: John and Gertrude Wilson; nephew Matthew Griffin, and her aunts and uncles.

Marlene Ione Fagerheim was born on February 25, 1936. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Midale, SK. Marlene became engaged to Kenneth Allen Lee on August 21, 1954, and they married on July 2, 1955.

Marilyn Ella Lautenslager, late of Weyburn (formerly of Yellow Grass) passed away August 22, 2016, at the age of 83 years.

We are saddened to announce that Gord Strom of White City, born on August 25, 1952 in Lake Alma, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 26, 2016.

Local students will return to classes on Thursday, September 1. Teachers for the Southeast Cornerstone Public School Division were at their annual convention in Weyburn on Aug. 29.
