Emil Anthony Plonka passed away on August 15, 2014 at the Radville Marian Health Centre at the age of 81 years. He was born on section 24-11-14 near Cedoux, to Karol and Anna Plonka on January 3, 1933.

Haley Anderson, Brooklyn Arts and Natalie Martin will represent the Weyburn and District United Way as their Communithon Superheroes, for this year's 33-hour fundraiser. The United Way will host the Communithon on Friday and Saturday, Oct.

The Weyburn and District United Way will kick-off their 2014 Communithon on Friday, Sept. 6 with a barbecue at the Memorial Park on Third Street (beside the City Hall). The barbecue will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

City police were called to investigate an alleged assault by a female who was walking two dogs and approached a vehicle and assaulted an occupant on Saturday. The matter is being investigated.
