Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of July 21 to July 28: During the reporting period, police dealt with 119 calls for service, including more thefts from motor vehicles. Police remind residents that these are crimes of opportunity.

The Tommy Douglas Performing Arts Centre will be open for visitors this weekend during Weyburn's Centennial Homecoming days.

Shoppers who visit Walmart this August will have an opportunity to help support the Canadian Red Cross in its disaster preparedness and response activities. The campaign will run across Canada in Walmart stores from August 1 to 25.

Weyburn's centennial celebration, Homecoming weekend, Aug. 1-5, will be a five-day extravaganza with historical attractions, theatre, concerts, reunions and activities for the whole family.

A special time capsule will be opened during Weyburn's centennial, when the class of 1988 meets for a 25-year reunion. The time capsule was created in 1988 by the graduating class.

Last week, the spotlight was on the Canadian golfers at the 2013 RBC Canadian Open. Especially for Graham DeLaet, as he signed on as an ambassador for Saskatchewan.

Peter Szuta, late of Weyburn, passed away July 21, 2013, at the age of 85 years.
