To recognize outstanding safety performance at the company's Weyburn operations, Cenovus Energy Inc. recognized seven companies on May 13 at McKenna Hall. Fauser Energy Inc., Industrial Electric and Instrumentation Ltd., United Centrifige Ltd.

Weyburn's 'new' Police Chief has already been part of the community for more than one year. Chief Marlo Pritchard was sworn in as Chief of Police on February 29, 2012.

The South East Saskatchewan Roller Derby (SESRDA) Hillbilly Hurt played its season opener in Moose Jaw against the Lil' Chicago Jaw Breakers on May 11. The Hillbilly Hurt came out with a victory of 372 to 330.

Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of May 6 to 13: During the reporting period, police received 136 calls for service. Police members were very busy with calls involving firearms, neighborhood disputes and several hit and runs.

Fallon Gaab sprints across the finish line in the Junior Girls 3,000 meter race way ahead of her competitors. Gaab won her first place ribbon at the track meet held on Saturday at the Weyburn Comprehensive School.

Weyburn fire fighter Kevin Cooke ignites a pool of gasoline and diesel on fire in preparation for fire training for a group of summer students who work for Cenovus Energy at the Weyburn plant on Thursday.

Sun Country Health Region is expanding its primary health care services for residents by adding another nurse practitioner (NP) and a new primary health care site. Laura Wood will begin working in the existing Carlyle Primary Health Clinic on May 13.

Willis Rudolph Emde, late of Midale, passed away May 5, 2013, at the age of 85 years.

Susanna Klatt, late of Weyburn passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the age of 93 years.
