The staff of the Weyburn Comprehensive School have chosen the following as students of the month for September, and the subjects they excelled in.

The Weyburn Fire Department is in need of a few good men and women to fill out their ranks, and have begun recruiting.

Weyburn’s deputy fire chief Denis Poulin has filled a number of roles in emergency services, including as a fire fighter currently, in part to fulfill a promise he made to his father. Poulin, who was born in Montreal and grew up in Milton, Ont.

The Weyburn Comp Eagles intermediate boys volleyball team hosted a six-team tournament at the Comp Eagle gym on Friday and Saturday, and advanced to the gold medal game against Yorkton Regional.

World Mental Health Day is observed on 10 October every year, with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health.

The Weyburn Arts Council will be hosting a community forum on the arts on Tuesday, Oct. 15, and anyone involved in the arts or is interested in the arts is invited to attend. The meeting will be held at the Signal Hill Arts Centre, starting at 7 p.m.
