Weyburn cyclist Mary Shirkie had never taken part in a big fundraiser before, but decided to ride her bicycle to raise money towards research of children’s cancer after she became a grandmother.

Across Saskatchewan, people of all backgrounds from over 40 communities will be coming together to work toward outrunning cancer with the annual Terry Fox Run on Sunday, September 15.

The Weyburn Comp Eagles football team will host their first-ever “Friday Night Lights” game at the Weyburn Minor Football field, on Friday, Sept. 13, as they host their Highway 39 rivals, the Estevan Comp Elecs. The game kicks off at 7 p.m.

The writ has been dropped, and the 2019 federal election is now underway with a 40-day campaign, and voting day on Monday, Oct. 21.

Weyburn’s Police Chief Marlo Pritchard gave a farewell to members of city council on Monday evening, as he will be leaving by next week for a new provincial position.

The City of Weyburn will be reopening their indoor pool at the Leisure Centre, after the opening was delayed.

The Weyburn Concert Series met for their annual general meeting on Wednesday evening at the library. President, Linda Aitken welcomed those in attendance, and introduced new board members Bonnie Adacsi-Cooke and Stella Swertz.
