Weyburn Review

A burst of rockets lit up the skies brilliantly over Weyburn on Monday night, as the City of Weyburn put on a fireworks show to help celebrate Canada Day.

A team from the Lomond 4-H Beef Club worked together to get their steer groomed, as they competed against teams from other 4-H clubs within a 15-minute time limit. The teams were judged on their technique and attention to detail.

Celebrate Canada Day at the Weyburn Leisure Centre! They have Crafts & Face Painting until 3 p.m., and Bouncy Castles until 4 p.m., Melissa's Cotton Candy until 4:30 p.m. and Free Swimming until 5 p.m. More information and photos to come!

Intermediate 4-H member Baylee Moore set off hard from her second barrel as she rode the cloverleaf formation in the barrel racing event for the 4-H Horse Show on Sunday. She placed first for her age category with a time of 17.32 seconds.

Junior 4-H member Kylie Rasmussen, riding her horse Alley Cat, made a "mail delivery" as she took part in the timed trail ride during the 4-H Horse Show on Sunday afternoon in front of the grandstands.

Weyburn Beavers first baseman Drake Pilat has his glove ready for the throw from the pitcher to keep the runner for the Edmonton Prospects on base, during the third home game hosting the Edmonton team on Saturday evening.

Members of the Inner Wheel Club gave a donation of $483.71 to the Salvation Army’s food bank on Friday, as the group is disbanding.

Derrick and Joan Thue, the nephew and niece of Jeannette Ror, gathered with out-going chair of the Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation, Alain Lenferna, at the foundation’s annual meeting on Wednesday evening.

The Weyburn Leisure Centre will host a number of family-friendly activities for Canada Day on Monday, July 1, to mark the 152 nd birthday of Canada. The events will run from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
