Weyburn Review

There are new exhibits on display for the months of September and October, and the Weyburn Arts Council is planning for Culture Days events at the end of the month.

School is expensive, as every parent knows, and it’s not getting better. Every fall, the lists for school supplies needs filling, and for larger families, it’s a major expense, not to mention packing school lunches every day.

A Trivia Night fundraiser will be held on Friday, Sept. 14, at the Weyburn Legion Hall, to support the programs of the Weyburn branch for the Canadian Mental Health Association.

Local high school student, Anna Hoimyr, returned on August 24 from a two-week trip across Europe. Hoimyr was able to take on this adventure due to winning an international award from the Vimy Foundation called the Beaverbrook Vimy Prize.

The Weyburn Care-A-Van Society received a new bus on Aug. 28, and put it into service immediately, while the former bus was taken in as a trade.

Weyburn student Tristyn Lautner had “an unbelievable experience” as part of a team of optometry students from the University of Waterloo, who traveled this summer to Senegal to provide free eye care to impoverished residents there.

As children are back in the classroom as of Tuesday, a prime consideration is safety, both in and out of class, on the playground and on our streets and highways.

Comp Eagles quarterback Brett Bowler looked for a hole to run through as he ran during an offensive play versus the Estevan Elecs at a controlled scrimmage on Friday afternoon at Darold Kot Field.
