Weyburn Review

A 28-year-old male was arrested by the RCMP on Sunday after series of events took place near Creelman, and faces 19 charges relating to thefts and drug possession. Fillmore RCMP were first notified of a theft in progress in Creelman around 9:30 a.m.

The Weyburn Police Service received a report of an assault in progress on Sunday. Upon attending, an adult male was taken into custody without incident.

Veteran Howard Schmidt, one of only a handful of veterans left from the Second World War, laid a wreath for the South Saskatchewan Regiment at the cenotaph on Remembrance Day on Sunday.

The first wreath to be laid at Weyburn’s cenotaph on Nov. 11 will be by Susan Mailhiot, chosen to represent War Mothers for the Weyburn Legion at the Remembrance Day ceremonies.

The Weyburn Legion's Colour Guard marched on the colours at the start of the service of Remembrance held at Haig School on Thursday. The Colour Guard made an appearance at most of Weyburn's schools for their services, and will lead the parade on Nov.

Over 200 students and parents checked out the booths set up for post-secondary options, ranging from colleges to university, to the RCMP and the Canadian Armed Forces.

The cast and crew for the production of “Peter Pan Junior” have been hard at work rehearsing scenes for the upcoming Comp musical.

Bells in Weyburn will ring 100 times at sunset on Sunday, Nov. 11, to mark the signing of the Armistice that ended the First World War one century ago.
