Residents took in a barbecue and garage sale at the Royal LePage office held to benefit the Trevor and Danielle Johnston family of Griffin, who lost their home to a fire on Aug. 18.

Exchange student Vivian Huang introduced herself to the members of the Weyburn Rotary Club on Aug. 16, as she just arrived in Canada from Taiwan the evening before.

Tickets are selling for the annual Golf Ball Drop fundraiser, which will be held as a joint project with the Weyburn and Estevan Rotary Clubs. The ball drop is held in alternating cities each year, and this year the drop will be held at 5 p.m.

Maegan Samenook showed a triple stroller that had been donated by a Lampman-area family to the Johnston family, who just lost their Griffin-area farm home to a fire on Saturday.

Due to the recent hot and dry weather, harvest is proceeding rapidly across the province.

Saskatchewan residents are once again showing Canada, and the world, that this province has the kindest, friendliest and most generous people found anywhere.

A total of 62 golfers took part in the 2018 Men’s Crocus Open on Saturday at the Weyburn Golf Course. The Men’s Horse Race champion was Chad Brock and the Senior Men’s Horse Race Champion was Murray Ballman.

Friends of the Brian Williams family had a huge response from neighbours when the word went out that some help was requested to take off a field of crops, after Williams passed away on Friday just as harvest was beginning in the Milestone area.

The Weyburn Police Service responded to 79 calls for service during the week of August 13-19, including an attempted robbery, and break-and-enter to the mall. • Weyburn police responded to a silent panic alarm at the Liquor Spot on Aug. 14.
