The Weyburn Comp’s Senior Boys and Senior Girls basketball teams are hosting regional playoffs this weekend, Friday and Saturday, March 17-18, in the Eagles gym. The boys are ranked No. 1 in the province in 4A, and the girls are ranked No. 4.

Our hearts are breaking as we announce the passing of Dorothy Eileen Kamaraus Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 following a two year battle with Bulbar Motor Neuron Disease, a form of ALS/Lou Gehrig’s Disease. She was 61 years of age.

Robert “Toby” Towne, late of Weyburn, passed away March 10, 2017 at the age of 63years. Toby was predeceased by his father Robert Towne.

The City of Weyburn has presented its operating budget for 2017, and in one week’s time, both the federal and provincial governments will present theirs, and the impacts will readily be felt by all residents as they are rolled out.

Farewells to departing city manager

Tourism Saskatchewan announced that 27 businesses earned the Employer of Choice designation for 2017, including Canalta Hotels two facilities in Weyburn, the Canalta Hotel and the Ramada Hotel.

The Weyburn Red Wings were the first Wild Card team to move on to the quarter-finals of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, after they took a three-game sweep of the Kindersley Klippers.

To the Editor: Your question of the week got me to thinking about garbage and recycling. I’m wondering why condo dwellers aren’t treated like residents of the city? Take, for example, the short street of Bannerman.
