The first “Grassy Knoll Hockey Classic” fundraiser was recently held near Kamsack. The event was staged at Len Reibin’s acreage on February 16. “It took many ‘younger stars’ to educate the ‘golden oldies’ on marginal ice,” said Reibin after the game.

On March 3 the Togo Figure Skating Club held its annual Ice Carnival at the Togo Centennial Arena. Called the Kaleidoscope of Colours, the carnival featured skaters from age three to 16, in Beginners to Group 5.

Members of the Kamsack branch of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation, who were successful in hunting and fishing during the past year, were recognized on March 2 during the group’s annual awards banquet.

The Norquay senior drama club is in rehearsals to stage the production called The Customer is Always Wrong , a play by Ian McWethy. The play is about four teenagers as they experience what it is like to have a job for the very first time.

Ken Thompson, fire chief of the Kamsack Volunteer Fire Department (KVFD) is pleased to announce that Kristin Johnson has been promoted to lieutenant. “As far as I know she is the first female officer with the KVFD,” he said.

Despite the minus 30C temperatures that began the day on March 2, people in attendance at the Winter Festival were bundled up and ready to enjoy some outdoor fun.
