Decision expected to be reached next month

The Kamsack Recreation Board has nearly $22,000 to work with to provide and enhance the recreation opportunities in the community following the success of the Community Christmas Social held December 16.

The Rural Municipality of Preeceville made its committee and board appointments for 2018 at the December meeting of council, according to Lisa Peterson, administrator.

Organizers of the annual Old Dog Run received a demonstration last week of the type of equipment the Kamsack Volunteer Fire Department was able to purchase from funds raised at last year’s run.

This year was another great year for the kids for the 14th annual Children's Christmas store that was held on December 20 at the Preeceville Public Library, said Linda Shewchuk, an organizer.

Shannon Leson of Leson’s Funeral Home in Canora has been elected as the chair of the Funeral and Cremation Services Council of Saskatchewan. (FCSCS) Born and raised in Canora, Leson has been licensed as a funeral director since 1993.

Two members of the staff of the Kamsack Comprehensive Institute were presented with Sea Star awards on December 20 and four others received long-service awards.

Cameron Lozinski, a former Canora resident, has received recognition for his wide-ranging volunteer work by being included in the Ace Burpee’s Top 100 Most Fascinating Manitobans of 2017.

Environmental projects and infrastructure will be the focus of town council during 2018, Mayor Nancy Brunt, said recently when asked to reflect on the happenings in the community in 2017 and to look forward to the new year.
