Canora and area athletes selected to compete at Saskatchewan Winter Games The Parkland Valley team competing at the Saskatchewan Winter Games in North Battleford from February 18-24 will including three athletes from the Canora area.

The Bruce Brownlee rink, from the Wadena Curling Club, was victorious in the A event in the Canora Town and Country Bonspiel, which concluded on January 28.

The week was not kind to the Yorkton Terriers. In three Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League games, the Terriers failed to find a point.

The Saskatchewan Winter Games in North Battleford are fast approaching, and Parkland Valley Sport and Recreation District is preparing the local team for the games. The team had a chance to get ready by attending a sport camp at the Gallagher Centre.

Experienced and new paddlers will have a chance to play tug-of-war in the water at the Gallagher Centre this weekend as part of a fundraiser.

As a kid growing up in southern Ontario, JoAnne Maloff loved cross-country skiing. She took part in the Jackrabbit program, which focused on the fundamentals of skiing for children.

A pair of Yorkton teams are headed to the regional curling championships.

The Kevin Ebert rink, with Richard Johnston as the skip, topped the Norquay Annual Open Bonspiel held January 17 to 21. A total of 18 teams participated, said Rubieann Kluke.

Thanks to a pair of weekend wins the Yorkton RawTec Maulers have climbed in their league standings.

The York City Classic is a local institution, as Yorkton Regional High School and Sacred Heart High School join forces to bring together 12 Senior Boys Basketball teams to play against each other. This year’s winner was the YRHS Raiders.
