The Canora Golf and Country Club was proud to host 21 women and 50 men at the Ladies’ Open and Men’s Open golf tournaments on August 20 and 21.

The YRHS Raiders senior football team is about to kick off another season on the field.

“Last fall we started talking about it and doing some research. Mack (Tiller) did some looking at courses in Palm Springs. We started looking online and found there was a Canadian footgolf association and progressed from there.

A Pelly woman and a Norquay woman cheered as their great-grandson helped Team Saskatchewan win the Canada Cup baseball tournament in Fort MacMurray, Alta., on August 7.

Two athletes from Yorkton represented Saskatchewan at the Canadian National Track and Field Championships this summer. Dami Ogunbiyi, a student at Sacred Heart HIgh School, represented Yorkton in the midget age group.

On Sunday, August 21, the Yorkton Health Foundation’s tenth annual Charity Road Race and Community Walk took place out of the Yorkton Regional High School parking lot. The total amount raised this year was $34, 735.

Jonathon and Lukas Muir grew up playing football in Yorkton. They spent many high school nights playing in the orange and white Yorkton Regional High School Raiders uniforms.

A Kamsack hockey player has signed with the Spokane Chiefs and is committed to playing in the Western Hockey League. The Chiefs announced on July 21 that Logan Foster of Kamsack, a 1999-born forward, had signed a standard player agreement.

A “good, competitive weekend” ended with a little disappointment for the Yorkton Yankees, said spokesman Mark Jacobs.

The 2016 Western Canadian Midget and Youth Track and Field Championship was held in Regina on July 29-31, 2016 at the Canada Games Athletic Complex. There were nine athletes from Yorkton and area that made up Team Saskatchewan.
