For a second year in a row, Matt Procyshen of Saskatoon won the Golden Duck match play golf championship. This year’s competition was held at the Madge Lake Golf Resort on August 19, 20 and 21.

The Canora Golf and Country Club brought in seniors from around the province for its Senior Men’s and Women’s Golf Tournament.

Both insults and bodies were flying around the Sacred Heart High School gym on Friday, night. High Impact Wrestling presented Kings of Destruction, a professional wrestling event that had crowds on their feet all night long.

It’s been a successful few weeks for Yorkton’s minor football teams. The Atom Gridders beat the Griffiths North 26-6 on Aug 20, and tied the Regina Thunderbirds 13-all on Aug 28.

The first game of the season for the YRHS senior Raiders football team was held in Swift Current on Thursday, Sept. 1. The Raiders got off to a slow start in the first quarter, allowing the Swift Current Colts to gain a 7-0 lead.

The Canora Golf and Country Club was proud to host 21 women and 50 men at the Ladies’ Open and Men’s Open golf tournaments on August 20 and 21.

Yellowhead International Speedway hosted another day of stock car races on Sunday, August 28th. Although the day was threatened with periods of rain in the early afternoon, the races were able to proceed shortly after 2:00 p.m.

To say it has been a successful golf season for Yorkton’s Kade Johnson would be an understatement. That success has led him away from Canada, into a university in the United States.

Live professional wrestling will be coming to Yorkton on Friday, Sept. 2. High Impact Wrestling presents The Kings of Destruction starting at 8:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart High School.

The golf discs were flying at Patrick Park Disc Golf Course in Yorkton Sunday for the Second Annual Trilogy Challenge. The event attract nearly three dozen disc golfers from across the province including; Saskatoon, Wadena, Regina, and Moosomin.
