The McDonald's Atom hockey tournament over the weekend came down to Yorkton taking on itself to determine the winner on the 'B' side. Yorkton Richardson beat Yorkton B and K Trucking in the game played at the Farrell Agencies Arena.

Sixteen teams started and one was left standing as Michelle Englot outlasted Karissa Murray during the Yorkton stop on the Saskatchewan Women's Curling Tour over the weekend at the Gallagher Centre.

On Saturday at the Willow Cree Memorial Sport Centre, Yorkton entertained the Beardy's Blackhawks. Despite outshooting the Blackhawks 16-15 in the first period, fell by a final score of 10-3. Five Blackhawks goals came on the power play.

The local curling club will be hosting the Cornerstone Credit Union SWCT cash bonspiel on the first weekend of December. The tournament goes for three days. There is admission at the door. The local club hosts the event for the fifth year in a row.

Yorkdale Central Public School followed up the YESSA City championships from two weeks ago with an invitational tournament at the school gym.
