It was not the greatest of nights for the YRHS senior football team Friday. They headed to Regina to meet up with the Notre Dame Hounds.

When I got my hands on a selection of Gateway Disc Sports it was a bit like Christmas, pawing through the selection of discs and feeling the excitement of trying them at Patrick Park Disc Golf Course in the city.

Another year, another slate full of ideas for the Yorkton Elementary School Sports Association (YESSA). Having served one year already on the council, as vice president last year, Mark Schendel is assuming the presidency role this year.

The Deer Park Cup was held over the weekend at Deer Park Municipal golf course. Twenty six people took part. They were divided into two teams. Thirteen played on each team.

The Yorkton Terriers began the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League season with a home-and-home series against Weyburn, earning a split in the two games. The Terriers went into the Red Wings rink Friday and took a season-opening win by a 3-2 score.

The Sacred Heart senior football team picked up where they left off at the end of last year's regular season. They opened up the this year with a 29-7 victory over the visiting Melville Comprehensive Cobras.

The Parkland Racing Association held their year-end finale over the weekend with car action running on both days, said Brendan Dickey, PRA president.

Jason Farrell was no doubt thrilled with the way his team played over the weekend. In fact he insisted that he saw this win coming. "I kind of felt it coming," offered the head coach following his 29-0 shutout victory over the Lumsden Devils.

The Sacred Heart Saints girls soccer team performed remarkably well in Moose Jaw on the weekend at a 16-team tournament that featured some of the top 2A and 3A teams in the province, said coach Jeanne Fetsch.

It should come as little surprise that the best football player on the Saskatchewan Roughriders is also one of the best talkers on the team too. The Riders hosted the Toronto Argonauts in a game that I thought would have been over before it started.
