Preeceville Progress

The residents and staff members of the Preeceville and District Health Centre’s long-term care wing (LTC) have had a busy summer with numerous activities and visitors.

Members of the Preeceville Curling Club met for an informal organizational meeting on September 2. The club executive and members discussed numerous topics related to the start up for the new season.

It may have seemed harmless enough – or at least it was relatively harmless as budget updates showing a $292million deficit go.

The editor: On September 9, many Saskatchewan communities were to be inviting people to barbecues, walks, or to enjoy mocktails (non-alcoholic drinks). It is FASD Awareness Day.

This morning the kids were fed and watered, followed by the obligatory photos taken on the front step which were then posted to Facebook. It was indeed, the most wonderful time of the year. The kids are back in school.

Farming and wildlife have not always had the best of relationships. It often comes down to having two realities with divergent needs. A duck needs a wetland to nest near.

Numerous changes in staffing were noted in the Preeceville School for the new school season when the doors opened on September 1. Laura Chartrand is no stranger to the school but she has joined the staff as the full time Grade 1 teacher.

The Sturgis Composite High School welcomed two new teachers to the staff on the fi rst day of school on September 1. Meghan Clancy of Saskatoon was hired as full-time sci-ence teacher.

Jokingly described as “country bumpkins,” the Assiniboine Golden Aces senior co-ed slo-pitch team went to Saskatoon on August 2930 for the SPN (Saskatchewan Provincial – National) tournament and returned with the B-side title.

I love the weather in autumn, especially when we are blessed with high temperatures and warm breezes. There’s something about the air in September that is so appealing. It not only feels good – but smells great as well.
